Songlike and melodic, Air is the purest and sparest piece composed by Kernis in years. The original version, for violin and piano, was written in 1995 for Joshua Bell. This version was premiered by Ransom Wilson in Alice Tully Hall in NYC in February of 2004.

KAREL HUSA - SONATINA

Husa’s Sonatina was originally composed in 1945 for Violin and Piano while the composer was a student at the Conservatory of Music in Prague. This transcription for Flute and Piano was created at the request of flutist Leona Buyse, who gave its premiere on July 4, 2002.

JOHN HARBISON - FLUTE CONCERTO

SERGEI PROKOFIEV - SONATA OPUS 94 FOR FLUTE AND PIANO

The Schirmer edition of Prokofiev’s Sonata Opus 94 for Flute and Piano is based on previously printed editions and recordings of his Opus 94. This edition retains the solo flute and solo violin parts in the piano score showing the differences made by the composer for both versions of his work.
